The River Severn is absolutely stunning place to fish for Barbel. It's surrounded by rolling hills and flow through the valley. It smells the roses along the way. I love catching big fish here.

I've got here early this morning and I traveled with a minimum of kit because I think it's quite important to keep really mobile. I'm gonna drop in all the likely looking Barbel swims

Look at this tiny barbel, he's had a lucky escape and has a tooth mark but does build my confidence. If he's feeding, his grandma will be feeding.

I have my first fight with a barbel in the second swim, they really do fight hard. If you haven't fished for Barbel on this river before, you'd be mistaken for thinking you've got a huge one on.

This one feels much better. It's a bigger one. a full for this if we have to. I've never been so happy to see a decent bottle. That's that's much more like it.

A barbel in double figures, I'm over the moon with that.
